“He’s always helping people,” Dr. Jase says of his younger brother Justin. “But he gets himself into the funniest situations.” An avid Samaritan since a young age, Dr. Justin has often looked for ways to help people.
During a two-year service mission in Mexico, Dr. Justin was asked by a family to “help” them by preparing a pig for their daughter's 15th birthday celebration. Having no experience with the task but not wanting to leave the family without help, he reluctantly agreed. More than an hour later, covered in dirt and mud, Dr. Justin came back with a lot more experience than he wanted.
Knowing from a young age that he wanted to be an orthodontist, Dr. Justin joined his brother, Jase, at UNC for dental school and then continued on to University of Oklahoma for a specialty degree in orthodontics. He graduated in the summer of 2010, Dr. Justin, alongside his brother and best friend Jase, opened Olsen Orthodontics and knew he would be a part of something great. He would have the chance to help others and really change lives.
Dr. Justin loves golf, woodworking, and wearing vibrant and interesting socks (just ask to see them)!
Even when Dr. Jase was young, he was a determined problem-solver. Set on getting a halfpipe in his backyard, he got his parents to say he could have one if he could show them what it would look like, with the hope that this would dissuade him. A few days later, Dr. Jase built a small replica of a halfpipe out of toothpicks and glue.
Leaving behind his model-sized replicas, and after a two-year mission in Mexico, Dr. Jase decided to bring his “Mr. Fix-it” personality to the dental scene. He attended UNC for his dental degree and then the University of Michigan for Orthodontics.
“I like seeing a mouth that really needs orthodontics — the challenging cases. I think, ‘this is going to change that whole person’s outlook; that is going to make a difference.
Dr. Jase graduated in 2010 and helped open Olsen Orthodontics with his lifelong best friend and brother, Justin. With family at the core of their values, there is no other way they would have it. When he is not at the office, Dr. Jase enjoys his family and being outdoors.
Somewhere: "At the core of it all, we do what is going to be most beneficial for the patient. That's what we do - the best we can to change lives. That makes the difference."
Dr. Patel, or his more well-known moniker Dr. P, is probably the funniest teeth-straightner in our practice. He's been straightening smiles for more than ten years now and is currently bringing his skills from Cary, NC.
Dr. Patel attended the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, where he finished number one in his class. After finishing his dental training, he then earned his Certificate in Orthodontics and Masters of Science while attending the University of Minnesota. Dr. Patel has also been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
When he isn’t at the office, you can find Dr. Patel spending time with his wife and daughter. He is also quite the Mr. Fix-It. He can descale a water heater and loves to add on other DIY projects.
If there is one thing patients must know about Dr. Frank, its that the man has dad jokes for days. Just ask him for one.
Dr. Frank grew up in Silicon Valley in Los Altos, California. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Washington. While there, he won a Pierre Fauchard Academy National Scholarship and was a finalist for the NIH/NIDR Hatton Award.
After graduating with Honors in 1992, Dr. Frank continued his studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning an MS from the UNC School of Medicine and completing a post-doctoral residency in orthodontics at the School of Dentistry.
Dr. Frank owned his own practice in Seattle for about twenty years before returning to North Carolina. Olsen Orthodontics was lucky enough to call him for its own in 2021. It could have been because he's related to Dr. Jase and Dr. Jase pulled some strings. Either way, Team Olsen is all in for his dad jokes and orthodontic knowledge.
